Most online courses have a discussion forum where you are asked to introduce yourself. How much information you provide is up to you, but keep in mind, the introduction forum is your opportunity to meet your classmates. We recommend that you think of what you might tell people if you were asked to introduce yourself in a physical classroom.

In this instance, since it is less private than a class, think of what you might tell people if you were asked to introduce yourself at a conference.

To begin:

  • Click the Add a New Discussion Topic button

  • Tell us something about yourself.  How much or how little you post is up to you but here are some ideas to help you get started:
    • Who you are,
    • what you like doing,
    • where you live
    • what you hope to gain,
    • whether this is your first online course,
    • what you are concerns are about attending college,
    • ...

For additional help posting to a discussion forum, check here

Note: this forum will not be graded; it is simply to give you practice with an online, introduction forum.  It also gives you an opportunity to "meet" some of your fellow students.

College of the Rockies serves the communities of the East Kootenays. All of the College's campuses are located in the traditional territory of the Ktunaxa people which is also home to the Kinbasket people. Five First Nations bands are located in the regional boundary of the College: Four of which are Ktunaxa and one is Shuswap. Additionally, the College partners with the Kootenay Regional Office of the Métis Nation, BC. We are thankful for all our Indigenous partners and are constantly seeking new ways to support the development of our community.
